Dear all,
I am saddened and shocked to know that such a great friend and colleague has passed away. Beyond being a top scientist and teacher, Abe was a most inspirational individual who enriched the life of those aroundg him. My profound sense of loss is mitigated only by knowing that the joy that he brought to our lives will always be in our hearts, Enrique |

I was not a member of the Fuzzy fraternity, but I do know that Abe immensely enhanced the professional reputation of the Department and, at a personal level, was a very welcoming, , cheerful and stimulating person to be around. I shall certainly miss him. |

I am deeply moved by the sad demise of Prof. E.H. Mamdani. His papers and practical applications of Fuzzy Logic inspired me and helped me a lot to pursue my research in Modelling Process Equipment Degradation using Fuzzy Methods. I express my sincere gratitude. He has helped to realize the scientific and engineering community to deal with uncertain systems to come out with practical solutions. I salute his achievements. May his soul rest in heavenly abode.

Igor Aleksander Also a 'retired' professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. 29/01/2010 00:22:02 |
I had known Abe since his arrival in the UK in the 1960s as a student and then a valued colleague and a friend. It is impossible for me to think he is no longer there. His vision of the technological future of the world as stemming from an understanding of human nature and the needs of humanity will continue to be an inspiratiuon to myself and many others. It is not an inconsiderable consolation that what he has written and recorded will keep him alive in perpetuity as an authoritative and highly intellectual professional. I miss him very much. |

I am deeply moved to know that Prof. Mamdani has passed away.
I met him two times. First time in Paris at IPMU 2006 conference and then in London at FUZZ-IEEE 2007 conference organized at Imperial College, where Prof. Mamdani participated as panelist in the Panel Session PAN4: Fuzzy Logic Control : Present, Future, and New Directions, organized together with Prof. Hani Hagras. His famous first application of fuzzy logic is always in our courses Soft Computing and Neuro-Fuzzy Systems for the students in our university. I fill a deep regret to have no time to discuss more with him. He is sadly missed in our community and will always be in our hearts. |

I consider myself privileged to be supervised by Prof Mamdani while writing my PhD at Imperial.
When I met him ten years ago I was immediately influenced by his profound belief in the brighter future of the human race whilst we gradually immerse into virtual reality. I’ve been keeping in my memories the inspiration he was able to create around himself. Even today when I feel deeply saddened about the news Prof Mamdani has passed away, remembering him and his ideas results in a fresh boost of optimism for the days to come. |

I know Prof Mamdani from my days at Imperial College when I was a post-doctoral researcher. Prof Mamdani was an inspiring man both intellectually and socially. His precise intellect will be greatly missed. The world is poorer without him.
