Integration of independent systems into one holistic machine
We will continue to work on integrating the image recognition software to the mechanical parts to detect and deliver the items into correct compartments respectively, automatically.
Incorporation of SortBot into campuses
With interactive user interface and improved esthetic aspect, we aim to incorporate SortBot in university campuses for students and staff.
Self-sustainability of the machine
The profits coming from the waste sold to recycling centres could be used for maintenance and upgrade of the machine, in other words, to create a self-sustaining system. We will also include low power mode in SortBot's operating mode to reduce energy usage.
Liaison with external businesses to build an attractive rewarding scheme
This could be achieved by partnering with a payment app like YOYO Wallet and businesses targeting students such as online retailers and food delivery companies.
Expansion of SortBot functionality
We will continue our work to refine technology to enable sorting of multiple objects at the same time, accommodate more categories of recyclables and increase accuracy and efficiency of SortBot.
Expand reach beyond campuses to involve the wider community
With improved functionality, we aim to promote SortBot technology as a possible approach for wider application such as community councils and mobile waste trucks.
