What is Skyno?

Poaching of rhinoceros in South Africa has reached critical levels. With some species of rhinoceros being hunted to extinction and the remaining species severely endangered, it is time to take action to protect our biodiversity. Skyno is an aerial surveillance system developed in response to the rhinoceros poaching crisis in South Africa. It adds to the arsenal that authorities can utilise to identify and put a halt to illegal poaching activity. Although Skyno is inspired by the poaching situation, it is a versatile and low-cost product that has potential in further applications such as border security. Since Skyno is still in the development phase, this website aims to extend a preview of the final product. Feasibility of the proposed product in the prevention of poaching activity is discussed. The website also presents the research the team has done which culminates with the design of Skyno.
