I was initially tasked with collaborating with Roger on two sections of the report: "Comparison with Other Systems" and "Commercial Viability" which were eventually placed under the headers of "Evaluation of Systems (External)" and "Economic Viability" respectively. This involved research into systems that were already available on the internet and other widely used educational applets, which helped in analysing the system's economic viability. After these were completed, Roger and I vetted Jonathan and Faizan's write-up before compiling the collated write-ups into an extensive report with a logical flow. I also collated the minutes for the management report, which gives an outline of our progress in the project over the entire duration.
My contributions to the project include coming up with the skeleton of the report and writing up of "Evaluation of System (External)" and "Economic Viability" with Sonya. In external evaluation, we compared EEVIL against existing platforms using criteria such as variety, effectiveness, and user interface. In economic viability, we expounded possibilities of EEVIL being commercialised. Also, I introduced cross checking of respective portions to ensure coherence between sections and sub-groups, and consequently edited Jonathan's and Faizan's portion, offering constructive feedback. The main bulk of my contribution came in connecting all sections and compiling the report with Sonya. Finally, I steered the group by setting all internal deadlines and projections, to keep everyone on track of our progress. Administratively, I took minutes for some meetings and arranged most meetings.
My contributions to the project include working with Huey Yuen in writing the Introduction and Conclusion. Individually I was also in charge of the recording of the group meetings minutes. After rough drafts of each individual's part were submitted, Huey and I helped review Sonya and Roger's contribution highlighting any possible errors and giving suggestions. I also contributed to the management report.
I am also co-presenting the final presentation on the group project with Jonathan, putting emphasis on current progress on EEVIL.
My contributions to the design projects include evaluation of the system, carrying out the survey, editing and contributing to the possible impact of the system. In evaluation of the system, I worked with Jonathan and both of us carried out a detailed analysis of various aspects of EEVIL ranging from its graphing properties to its user interface. We varied all the different variables, estimated the limits of the system and suggested further developments that could be possible with EEVIL. I also prepared a questionnaire on EEVIL based on a couple of revision lectures given by Dr. Fobelets assisted by Thomas and Seun. I sent it out to the entire 1st and 2nd year EE cohort and gathered their views on the system. The survey results are attached to the appendix. Finally I edited Huey Yuen's work on the possible impact of the system.
My main focus for the project has been the website. As web design is something I've wanted to try for a while and no one else was particularly eager to take on the task, I volunteered. Consequently, our website was coded from the bottom up, enabling it to be a lighter site, yet still with advanced functionality and visuals (e.g. animation). I also addressed the more technical side of EEVIL's implementation, analysing the current approach together with its advantages and disadvantages. In doing so, I was the main liaison between our group and the developers (James and Gary). Finally, I provided input for the formatting and presentation of the main report. As the website is a electronic representation of our report, it is important to ensure continuity between both electronic and print media of our project.
I worked on the 'Introduction' and the 'Possible Impacts of the system' of the report. For the introduction, I worked with Seun to set the direction of the report, outlining the background of the topic before explaining the reasons for implementing EEVIL. As for the 'Possible Impacts of the System', it was an individual task to analyse the system and uncover its other potential usage beyond being an education tool. I had to make reasonable and practical suggestions of what the system is capable of in this part of the report. After the individual parts of the report were completed, Seun and I were responsible in editing the work of Roger and Sonya, and made a few suggestions on their work.
During our group project my contribution was to co-write the section: Evaluation of system and Further developments with Faizan. In this we analysed the program, highlighting problems that we came across, and we also suggested improvements that could be made to increase the usability and usefulness of the system. We also reviewed Seun and Huey's work and came with several amendments and improvements to their section.
I am also presenting the final presentation on the group project with Seun, which will provide an overview of our project and what it has achieved.
